My 13 Year Old Self

In 2002, I was 13 years old. This song played every morning when I set my TV to automatically come on at 7am on MTV:

Clipse, the Virginia Beach brothers with the heartwarming names of Malice and Pusha T, have had a few well-known hits (with the help of Pharrell and the Neptunes), including this song, but this song will forever be embedded in my freshmen year high school self. I don't know what it is specifically about this song that has stuck with me for all of these years now, the catchy loop in the back or the smooth, simple rhythm of the rhymes, or especially Pharrell's chorus, but don't be surprised if I bust this out at a party. That's all I'm sayin.

It did catch me by surprise, however, that Pusha T says he hates this track now. How can he hate this track when I love it so much?!?! At least Malice has some sense.

Watch here for the blasphemy:

Although he may hate it, this song will forever take me back to my freshmen self, getting ready to go to school. And now that I think about it, this song is also probably the reason why my morning mixes to get ready in the morning are so crunk. I think I just had an epiphany.
